We have been commissioned to design two new residences on the island of Nananu-I-Ra for Pitkin Properties. The island is located to the North East of Nadi and the site is at the Northern tip of the island, Veti Levu.

The only means of transporting building materials to the site is by boat, usually small outboard motors. Therefore it has been an important part of the brief and design process, to understand the local building techniques, and what materials are available.

The design is based on addressing the topography of the site, prevailing winds, proximity of neighbors and position of the sun throughout the year in this unique and beautiful part of the world.
